Junior Acoustic Consultant – Melbourne

Vipac Engineers & Scientists are a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy established for 45 years and employing more than 200 people worldwide.  We are engaged in a diverse portfolio of projects encompassing the fields of Building and Environmental Acoustics across a range of industry sectors including Buildings, Infrastructure, Industry, and Mining.

We are looking to expand our Melbourne Acoustics Group and are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join the group in the Melbourne Office.

Reporting to the head of the Acoustics Group you will contribute to the development and growth of the Acoustics Group, while actively undertaking projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work on projects in Acoustics and Vibration under supervision and guidance of our Senior Consultants
  • Undertake noise and vibration assessments using appropriate instrumentation and methods
  • Undertake site/building noise assessments using modelling software
  • Write technical reports and liaise with clients
  • Undertake design of acoustic solutions for sites/buildings

The successful applicant will have

  • Be experienced with Microsoft Office

Previous experience with Acoustics and Vibration Software and Instrumentation would be advantageous.

Qualifications and/or Specific Skills

  • Degree in Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or acoustics specific qualification.
  • 1-3 years acoustics consulting experience preferable but not required.
  • A full driver’s license is essential
  • You must have excellent spoken and written communication skills (English)
  • Must be eligible to work in Australia

 Senior Acoustic Consultant – Melbourne

Vipac Engineers & Scientists Ltd is an Australian consultancy firm specialising in engineering dynamics, systems engineering, testing, and measurement. Vipac employs 150 staff, and has offices in all major Australian cities.

Our Melbourne branch is seeking an acoustic consultant to join our Building & Infrastructure and team in our Port Melbourne office.

Vipac are looking for an experienced consultant with a proven track record in delivering projects in Environmental and Building Acoustics, with the enthusiasm and capability to develop business in this area. The ideal candidate would have a  technical background and experience which would  enable them to independently manage multiple projects. The ideal  candidate will have the proven ability to deliver to client expectations to budget and timescale, personal organization and communication skills, client liaison experience, and  the ability to work outside office hours when required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage acoustics project and develop the field within the team
  • Undertake site/building noise assessments using appropriate instrumentation and methods
  • Undertake site/building noise assessments using modelling software
  • Write reports and make recommendations based on site/building noise assessments
  • Undertake design of acoustic solutions for sites/buildings

Experience

  • In a similar role consulting in building and environmental acoustics
  • In the operation of acoustic instrumentation and measurement procedures
  • With the assessment of building, environmental, and industrial noise
  • In building acoustic design
  • Using noise modelling software, such as SoundPLAN, Cadna, EASE, or similar
  • In report writing
