Wedgetail
Vipac is a member of the Lock-heed Martin Wedgetailteam, with Northrop Grumman
and Tenix Defence Systems to provide Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C)
capability to the RAAF. Vipac's role during the IDA phase involved staff at Lockeed's
Marietta facility to define the structural and habitability system level design
re-quirements and specifications. Vipac also developed initial designs requirements
and specifications. Vipac also developed initial de-signs for the rotodome support
struc-ture and associated modifications to the basic airframe and the internal fitout
of the aircraft. During the System Acquisition phase Vipac is planned to assume
responsibility for:
Entire structural design process, from initial design to drawing definition
to overseeing the manufacturing process.
Achieving noise levels in the cargo bay and flight station equivalent to
commercial air-craft.
VIPAC will be responsible for the structural integrity and internal fitout and
noise treatments for Lockheed C-130J-30 AEW&C if successful in the Wedgetail bid
