Anti-Vibration Seat Suspension Systems

•   Isolates jolts and vibrations better than other seat suspensions
•   Long life
•   Rides equally for all driver weights
•   Fits most vehicles
•   Widely tested in the mining industry
•   Tested extensively and demonstrated to be the best*

The risk of back injury and driver fatigue due to vibration or jolts can be minimised at your site by fitting VIPAC's seat suspension systems to your mobile equipment. VIPAC seat suspension systems are now available.
(*NERDDC Grant No: 1339, Final Report)

VIPAC's unique seat suspension system has the ability to effectively isolate vibration at both low frequency and low input amplitudes. The improved vibration and shock isolation results from design features that include minimised friction level in the suspension mechanism and rubber shock absorbers which reduce the jolts as the suspension approaches its top-out or bottom-out positions. Manual adjustment to maintain the seat isolation performance is provided for operator weights from 60kg to 120kg. An automatic weight adjustment mechanism is undergoing development testing now and will soon be available as an option.

Improved shock isolation

Australian Standard AS2670 specifies acceptable levels of whole-body vibration exposure for operators of mobile equipment. Compliance with this standard does not guarantee that beck and neck injuries are prevented. Many injuries appear to be caused by sharp shocks, bumps or jolts; the prevention of which are not adequately covered by the standard. The presence of infrequent high amplitude shock loads is a major consideration in operator welfare. This important area is addressed in British Standard BS6841:87. Therefore an effective isolation seat suspension must not only create an acceptable continuous vibration environment, but should also minimise jolts to the operator even under the worst road or operating conditions.

As the stiffness and damping increase and decrease with the weight of the operator, the VIPAC seat suspension system is adjustable so that it is equally responsive to applied vibration and shocks, independent of the driver's weight. The VIPAC seat suspension system provides improved isolation and therefore increases the onset of fatigue. This improved shock isolation also reduces the risk of back and neck injuries.

Features

•   Proven vibration and shock isolation
•   Robust - has long life, does not bottom out, design service life exceeding 2 years
•   Fits to any slider and any seat pad on most vehicles
•   Isolates low level vibration. (other seat suspension systems are friction bound and provide no benefit)

Interfaces

VIPAC's seat suspension system can be interfaced to commonly available seat pads and fore-aft adjustment mechanisms.
