Hong Kong Maritime Museum

Features: The HK$110 million redevelopment project has seen the existing museum relocated from its former location in Stanley Bay, to a refurbished pier building on the waterfront at Pier 8 Hong Kong Harbour. This exciting and innovative attraction with over 3,200 m² of public space includes semi-permanent and special exhibitions, dynamic displays, educational events and a Museum Shop.

Challenge: To provide a visually neutral acoustics treatment to be 100% in line with museum consultant’s design. To reduce exterior noise intrusion from nearby ferries and lower HVAC noise within noise sensitive areas.

Vipac’s role: Room acoustics and sound insulation design, and noise control of building services.

Benefit: Acoustic design that fits both form and function of the building while respecting its identity.
