Project: Darwin Convention Centre

Location: Darwin, Australia

Features: Part of a $1.1 billion development at the Darwin City Waterfront with total floor space of 22,900m2, it comprises a 1,500-seated auditorium (dividable into two by operable walls), four halls and a waterfront room, with a total capacity of 10,000 delegates.

Challenge: Multiple function spaces that can hold events concurrently, as well as diverse requirements for different function purposes.

Vipac’s Role: To make an ESD audit and provide wind engineering and thermal engineering consulting services. Also, to provide sound insulation between a potential total of six function spaces including Plenary Hall (1,500 seats), four Exhibition Halls (total area of 4,000m2), meeting and function rooms and the associated catering facilities.

Benefit: Created acoustic treatment that caters to a variety of entertainment venues, thereby diversifying and increasing the audience for our client.
