Gold Coast Light Rail

Features: Valued at $1.6 billion, the Gold Coast light rail project is city-changing and designed to alleviate traffic congestion and future proof the city for economic growth.

Challenge: To present an acceptable noise criterion for McConnell Dowell, Design and Construction partner of the GoldLinQ consortium, that would satisfy the State Government’s Department of Environment and Heritage Protection (EHP).

Vipac’s role: To develop a construction noise criterion for the GoldLinQ to be accepted by EHP and to conduct noise modelling of all likely construction activities for the entire length of the light rail corridor.

Benefit: Set noise limits to maximise acoustic comfort and safety for travellers and residents living nearby, without inhibiting progress of both the project and the Gold Coast.
