Internationally experienced acoustics engineer, Kito Coutinho has recently joined Vipac Engineers and Scientists as a Senior Acoustics Engineer in the company’s Hong Kong office.
Kito has a number of years experience in acoustical engineering and consultancy and specialises in Room, Building and Environmental acoustics.Educated in Portugal, Kito has a Masters of Science in Civil Engineering and worked there before moving to The Netherlands and working under the acclaimed late Professor Renz van Luxemburg in Eindhoven.
Large-scale international projects in which Kito has been involved include some of the world’s most recent and outstanding building designs such as the Taipei Performing Arts Centre and Taipei Pop Music Centre, Cordoba Congress Centre in Spain, the Jardins Braco de Prata in Portugal, Bibliotheque Multimedia de Vocation Regionale Caen La Mer in France and the Bryghusgrunden Copenhagen in Denmark.
Kito’s research into water based noise barriers at Schiphol Airport excited many in the profession and may lead to a significant breakthrough in portable noise barriers.
Kito has strong modeling skills using CATT Acoustic and SoundPLAN and experience in field and laboratory tests for Room and Building acoustics. He has had several papers published and is a member of the Portuguese Institute of Engineers and Portuguese Society of Acoustics.
Fluent in Portuguese and English, and with working knowledge in French, Spanish and Dutch, Kito provides consultancy services to clients including; architects, developers, builders, statutory authorities, operators and manufacturers.
