We test numerous types of air conditioners and similar thermal products which include:
- Non-ducted split units
- Ducted split units
- Fan coil units
- Air handling units
- Packaged units
- IT Cooling/Close-control (Switch/computer/data room)
- Multi-split (VRF)
- Water-sourced heat pumps
- Heat exchangers
Testing of air conditioners can be conducted in our NATA accredited Balanced Ambient Calorimeter using the calorimeter method for smaller capacity air-conditioners, and in one of our other calorimeters using the air-enthalpy test method. We can test both single and 3-phase units, with our largest calorimeter able to handle up to 300kW capacity.
Testing is conducted to the relevant national standards (AS/NZS 3823) or various relevant international standards including ISO, AHRI/ANSI, GB/T.
We measure air-flow, thermal capacity, electrical energy consumption including stand-by power, power factor, energy efficiency, MEPS criteria and ERL (energy labelling).
We can also conduct acoustics testing in our NATA accredited twin reverberation chamber for marketing purposes.
We have a voting seat on:
- EL-056 Room Air-conditioners committee
- ACRAC – Air-conditioner and Commercial Refrigeration Advisory Committee, and are involved on working committees to produce a seasonal performance standard for air-conditioners and a portable air-conditioning standard.
We are also proud members of AIRAH (Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning and Heating).
