Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day

As we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, Vipac is honoured to have respected female leaders of the industry working in its offices, contributing through their respective expertise.

Executive Chairman & Director Wendy Smith has been leading Vipac for nearly a decade. She’s played an important role in securing work on major projects such as the Federal Government’s Future Submarine Program with Naval Group Australia, and Snowy Hydro. She also takes pride in the wide range of defence testing that Vipac has performed — including for the Federation Satellite, Collins-class and Attack-class submarines, ANZAC-class frigates, Joint Strike Fighter F-35A, E/F Super Hornet, Bushmaster and Hawkei PMVs (protected mobility vehicles), and Rheinmetall’s Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV). They’re testaments to Vipac’s almost 50 years of engineering excellence.

Senior Engineers Sophie Lamande and Maria Julian have also been forces to be reckoned with. Under Sophie’s leadership, our Wind Engineering team has worked on landmark buildings including the Burj Khalifa and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Maria has been managing some of Vipac’s defence work, collaborating with Defence primes such as Leidos Australia and Thales Australia.
